Description
Virgin Hyperloop (VH) formerly known as Virgin Hyperloop One (VHO) and Hyperloop One, is an American transportation technology company that was formed in 2014 and reorganized and renamed in 2017, working to commercialize the high-speed technology concept called Hyperloop. Hyperloop systems are intended to move passengers and/or cargo at airline speeds at a fraction of the cost of air travel. The concept of Hyperloop transportation was first introduced by Elon Musk in August 2013.
The original Hyperloop concept uses a linear electric motor to accelerate and decelerate an electromagnetically levitated pod through a low-pressure tube. The vehicle will glide silently for miles at speeds up to 670 mph (1080 km/h) with no turbulence. The system is designed to be entirely autonomous, quiet, direct-to-destination and ondemand. Additionally, as Hyperloop is built on columns or tunnelled underground, it eliminates the dangers of atgrade crossings and requires much smaller rights of way than high-speed rail or a highway.
périmètre du projet
In this context, CERTIFER is involved as the Independent Safety Assessor to assess the Project compliance with CENELEC standards.
In November 2020, CERTIFER completed successfully the Test Readiness Safety Evaluation mission for VH which just conducted the first human travel test in an Hyperloop pod On November 8th, 2020, Josh Giegel (CTO) and Sara Luchian (Director), from Virgin Hyperloop, were the first passengers to test this new transportation system in Nevada desert.
As an Independent Safety Assessor (ISA), Certifer oversaw the testing campaign from the initial stages to the human travel test and is proud to be considered as a partner of VH and have been able to participate in this historical project for transportation sector.
