Beschreibung des Projekts

The Samsun–Kalın line project comprises the rehabilitation and modernization of the existing conventional railway line between Samsun and Kalın in order to address the inadequacies of the existing infrastructure and enhance the level of service.
The initial line consisted in a non-electrified, non-signalized, single-track railway of standard gauge located within a mountainous region. It is characterized by steep gradients with restrictive horizontal curves.
The upgraded line is formed by a single track of 378 km, with 30 stations.
The rehabilitation and modernization project’s main purpose is to equip the line with a modern Signalling system (Target: ETCS L1, currently allowed for ETCS L0 operation), to upgrade existing infrastructures to allow for a design speed of 120 km/h and to increase the maximum tonnage allowed and to electrify the whole route.

Umfang der Arbeiten

In this context, CERTIFER was awarded an Assessment Body service to assess the project’s compliance with the CSM regulation (Commission implementing Regulation No 402/2013) for the infrastructure sub-system and the global system. The outcomes of the assessment of the signalling subsystem were carried out by another AsBo and cross-accepted by CERTIFER in the framework of the global system assessment.
